Rascal Flatts - What Hurts The Most

I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don’t bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out
I’m not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I’m ok
But that’s not what gets me

What hurts the most
Was being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was tryin’ to do

It’s hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I’m doin’ It
It’s hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I’m alone
Still Harder
Getting up, getting dressed, livin’ with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

(Not seeing that loving you)
That’s what I was trying to do

I dunno how to say this. Lana, I know yer prolly listening to this sometime. But trust in the greater plan. Somewhere, even if you look at it, there has to be a positive angle. Everything happens for a reason. Take care Lana, take care of yourself.

Vivo City becomes the favourite haunt.

I had another 12 hour snooze on Saturday. 1am to 1pm this time. Bah. 12 hour snoozes are awesome. Haha. But yeah, let's take a look at this week's craziness.

Monday
Scriptwriting due. I suspect Chet will change this since our peer appraisals for our concepts have yet to be sent to us. Scriptwriting seems to be falling behind schedule though. Mmmm.... =S

Tuesday
Claire's make up work for last Tuesday being a public holiday is for us to present last week's tutorial this week.

Wednesday
Creative Game Design presentation. 3 minutes only. Huh? 3 minutes?!

Thursday
Understanding Cross Cultural Diversity. We oughta kill Wenda for making an already clogged up week even more clogged up. Sheesh. She asked us to prepare and present tutorial 6. Dr Sheh's class doesn't need to do that! Boo Wenda!

Friday
Media & Promotional Publicity pitching session. We have a 2 hour break following the presentation. Can rush out UCCD CA1 at the last minute then. Bah! UCCD report on Understanding Religions due by 5pm.

Then the following week is e-learning followed by common tests week. 13 weeks people, 13 weeks of school to go till 9 weeks of holidays. I just realised that if I save $10 a week for a whole year I'd end up $520 richer. Bah, not enough... Good thing we have holidays where I can rot at home and save extra, haha. But yeah, should I start looking for other ways to earn money? need more moolah if I want to finance travels.

Of lectures and lecturers

The picture below is probably the best picture of a lecture that we, the DMC year 2s, attend each week. This is the Media & Promotional Publicity lecture by Ms. Helen Ng. Oh, yeah, this picture was taken with my phone.

So yeah, we've a couple of modules with lectures. But thankfully only 3 which are examinable. Thank goodness, less to mug for. For those elsewhere who are having exams (O Levels, A Levels, Mid-terms), the best of luck guys. Especially you babe.

Modules and lecturers this sem:
M&PP - Ms Helen Ng - This module is fun to me, create an event and run it. I guess its my sort of thing. Organising and planning, stuff I like. The group is good too and yeah, things are going according to schedule (this reminds me that Christina wants me to type and send out the proposal again). But yeah, Ms Helen is nice but strict about timing. So yeah, we shall all be early next Friday. Anyone who needs wake up calls?

MLE - Ms Phyllis Peter - Ms Peter and her Brit sense of humour, heh. Her shrill voice we will never forget. Oh and her attempts at encouraging us using poems. Hahaha. Media Law and Ethics, uhh, its law... Its hard and they word it so spankingly difficult to mess with you on purpose.

PRMP - Ms Claire Ng - Public Relations Management Practices, PR is not my kinda thing... But you deal with what you get eh? So we're stuck with Claire again. Uh, PR, nothing much to say about it. Its actually rather systematic.

AM - Mr Andrew Ang - Hahaha, Mr Ang is funny when he messes up printing our notes. Oh, and poor Mr Ang messed it up twice in one week. Like he said, he's busy with a lot of stuff. Relax... Advertising, try to pay attention cause this is probably the line I'm gonna go into.

EOF - Mr Chin and Ms Tay - What a pair to teach Finance... Possibly one of the driest modules which seems like severely whacked Principles Of Accounts which I attained C6 for. Bah. Who pays attention to this anyway?

UCCD - Ms Wenda Leong - Understanding Cross Cultural Diversity turned drama lecture when Ms Wenda tried to act how the sorority girls in her Uni acted. Uhh, the next lecturer video on youtube eh? Ms Wenda in Sorority Girls. I can totally see it, yessss......... I dunno, it seems like you can coast through it.

SCR - Mr Woon (Chet) - Chet's classes make us learn stuff. We learnt how to critique scripts, why CAC was important and yeah, we're learning stuff. Its pretty cool really, and I think we're gonna have stuff to put into our portfolio (which I'm sure everyone has neglected for the past 3 semesters).

That aside...

"Its not the length of life but the depth of life"
"What hurts the most was being so close and having so much to say and watching you walk away"

I feel the pain, really. Its been awhile, but its still there like I said yesterday. The memories never fade.

Dear Nan,
Things are going good here. Next week's the rush week for assignments before a little break for e-learning week and mid-term tests. But yeah, holding up well I suppose. I keep thinking of you...

Love,
Jono.

Dear bro,
To tell the truth, its hard at times. Lana obviously still feels it. I hope she's doing okay really cause I have no idea... Sometimes its just hard to word what you want to say really.

Love,
Kid bro.

Vivo La Vivo

The past two days I've been at Vivo City. Yesterday with Joannah and Alvin, today with Joannah, Alvin, Sitze and Janice. Both were fun days and we spent numerous hours at the mall. Carl's Junior was a stop today where I had their Beef Chilli Cheese Fries which were fantastic. Then from there we went to our favourite store in the mall - Toys'R us. Yes, a toy shop. Teens can have fun there too okay?! Uh yes, fun. By fun we mean making toys do things simultaneously and making ourselves very cry with laughter and making parents and kids alike stare at us (maybe in disgust).

I mean making like, four or five bouncing Tiggers all bounce at once. Two Eyores flap their ears in unison. Three summersaulting Tiggers summersault in the same direction at once. Three Spider-man dolls dance to songs and sing the same song like a choir. Oh, and not to mention so many of those talking things talk and become retarded by shaking so they repeat the phrase faster and faster before they even finish it by shaking it like a rag doll. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hooligan (nor a hypocrite for that matter). Its just exploring the toys. Okay, fine. You all didn't read this paragraph.

Playing Monopolising the Over The Hedge game for free was on our agenda. Its really funny for all these creatures to invade the homes and do different tasks. Hehh. After toy time today, was the roof top optical illusion a.k.a. the roof top garden deck by the sea. Then we went to E-Zone and played Super Bishi Bashi Champ. Bang bang bang on the buttons. I prefer Bishi Bashi, its more fun plus its in English.

Then down one level to Challenger and 7-11 followed by exploring the Cold Storage section of Vivo Mart. Seeing the food there at 9:30pm with not having dinner, just a snack earlier, yet, hmmm.... Hungry...... Haha. But yeah, was fun. Gotta do it sometime again, maybe during e-learning week or something eh guys? Good fun, good company, good food. Oh, good night. Heh. Nah, not yet. I've still got more to ramble on.

Sometimes its just hard to let go. I find that I still haven't let gone (is that correct tensing?)... I still hold onto things and can't forget them. I've been talking a lot about Nan these days, saying she used to do this when she was around, she used to do that when she was around. Bro too... Just remembering what it was like.

Songs can help at times. Just rehashing the old favourites last night. Sweet. Made me think back to earlier times when everything was before everything else that happened. Sigh. The power of music. Now its really good night. Lecture pictures sometime soon and black board is being a pain refusing to allow me to upload my CA for CGD. Hmph!

The things we did, the things we said
Keep coming back to me and make me smile again

You showed me how to face the truth

Everything that's good in me I owe to you

Though the distance that's between us

Now may seem to be too far

It will never seperate us

Deep inside I know you are

Never gone, never far

In my heart is where you are

Always close, everyday

Every step along the way

Even though for now we've gotta say goodbye

I know you will be forever in my life (yeah)

Never gone

No no no

I walk alone these empty streets

There is not a second you're not here with me

The love you gave, the grace you've shown

Will always give me strength and be my cornerstone

(Somehow)

Somehow you found a way

To see the best I have in me

As long as time goes on

I swear to you that you will be

Never gone, never far

In my heart is where you are

Always close (always close)

Everyday (everyday)

Every step along the way

Even though for now we've gotta say goodbye

I know you will be forever in my life (in my life yeah)

Never gone from me

If there's one thing I believe (I believe)

I will see you somewhere down the road again

Never gone, never far

In my heart is where you are

Always close (always close)

Everyday (everyday)

Every step along the way

Even though for now we've gotta say goodbye (yeah yeah)

I know you will be forever in my life (in my life)

Never gone, never far

In my heart (in my heart is where) is where you are (you are)

Always close, everyday

Every step along the way

Never gone, never far

In my heart is where you are

The Next Adventure: Fiji

The next adventure begins in Fiji. Survivor will make its way there for its next 39 days of battle to be the sole survivor. What new twists await the new batch of castaways? 16, 18 or 20? How many will there be? Filming is set to start on Monday, 30th October 2006. Who will Outplay, Outwit and Outlast on Survivor: Fiji?

Survivor: Fiji will feature a river-side tribal council, tribes with beach front camps and exotic wildlife. The tribal council will have a village theme. You can expect something similar to Africa's except minus all the hedge defense against animals. Survivor: Fiji, next spring. Finale in summer.

Spoilers, start coming in soon. How the game is played largely depends on several factors. The number of the cast for instance. Larger cast, more tribal councils, more people to break you trust. Tribes. Triple or double tribe immunities are crucial, only possible with 3 to 4 tribes. 20 players in 4 tribes offers more possibilities for the cast, than say, 16 castaways in 4 tribes. 18 castaways in 3 tribes is something they've not done for awhile. I hope it gets done again. Meanwhile, Survivor: Cook Islands is good. Catch it when it airs people.

Selamat Hari Raya and a 12 hour snooze

Did I just break my sleep record? Goodness. I slept after coming home from spec dip class all the way to 6 something this morning. And that was like 6 at night. 12 hours? I must've been damned knocked out! Sheesh. Wow. I got up, and saw it was dark. Fine, its probably 2 something I thought. Then I checked my phone it was 6;13. My eyes probably nearly popped out of their sockets. But yeah, it was needed sleep I suppose. And feel kinda refreshed after that long snooze. I think everyone needs a long snooze like that from time to time. Especially you babe!

And without their moms saying its wasting time. For goodness sakes, if you don't sleep your body is going to break down! Haha.

Double C out at Double Tribal

Double C, Cao Boi and Cristina, bid good bye to the Cook Islands at the latest double tribal council. They joined Sekou, Billy, Cecilia, JP and Stephannie at Mutiny Motel. Day 16, 13 castaways left, who will be the sole Survivor?

On a usual 16 castaway season, it should go like this.
Day3 - 16 castaways
Day6 - 15 castaways
Day9 - 14 castaways
Day12 - 13 castaways
Day15 - 12 castaways
Day18 - 11 Castaways
Day21 - 10 castaways (merge)
Day24 - 9 castaways (jury)
Day27 - 8 castaways
Day30 - 7 castaways
Day33 - 6 castaways
Day36 - 5 castaways
Day37 - 4 castaways
Day38 - 3 castaways
Day39 - 2 castaways

So, looks like we need another double tribal council. Does that mean that Aitu trumps Raro in loads more challenges? Nice. Go Aitu.

My picks to make the merge:
Adam, Becky, Brad, Candice, Jonathan, Nathan, Ozzy, Parvati, Sundra, Yul.
That's a 6 Aitu to 4 Raro. Pagonging?

Original tribe numbers:
Hiki - 3 members
Aitu - 1 member
Puka - 4 members
Raro - 5 members

They need to get the original Raros out. Out out out. Not like they're that interesting anyway. Heh.

Do I miss Survivor?

Survivor: Cook Islands. Down to 15 castaways and next double tribal. Then we'd have 13 castaways. I'm not too sure of the days now. What day are we on and we have 15 castaways? Okay, just checked the episode 5 torrent, I think they're around day 14 now. So that would give them 25 more days to get rid of 15 people. Expect a few double tribals, yeehaw! One twist they have yet to do is get the tribes to go for an early merge and get a larger jury. Anyway, let's recap on our 5 booted castaways.

Episode 1: I could forgive her but I don't have to because she screwed with my chickens
IRC:
Puka, Aitu, Raro
TC: Hiki
Bootee: Sekou Bunch
The castaways were divided into 4 tribes by ethnic lines. This caused the whole big hoo-ha and led to Survivor not showing here. All the hoo-ha for nothing! Sekou made a lot of promises but never lived up to them.

Episode 2: Dire straits and Dead weight
IRC:
Puka, Raro, Hiki
TC: Aitu
Bootee: Billy Garcia
The infamous episode which the Hispanics threw the challenge that lead to the love-at-first-sight-leaving-mouths-open tribal council. Billy, Billy, Billy, what will you be remembered for for being on Survivor: Cook Islands? For falling in love with Candice at first sight and making a fool of yourself.

Episode 3: Flirting and Frustration
IC:
Raro
TC: Aitu
Bootee: Cecilia Mansilla
Come episode 3, the tribes are melted down and formed into the tribes Aitutaki and Rarotonga. How nice, they're the bigger islands of the Cooks archipelago. Yeah, well, what can you expect when the Cook Islands tourism board dictates the season be called Survivor: Cook Islands and forces SEG to adopt funky-chunky names like Puka Puka? Cecilia is booted, the Hispanics are falling in numbers.

Episode 4: Ruling the roost
RC:
Aitu
IC: Aitu
TC: Raro
Bootee: JP Calderon
How can anyone forget bossy JP? Paverty, get me the machete. Even flirtatious Parvati couldn't stand it no longer. The women of Raro get together and throw the king away into the Cook Islands lagoon. And Raro got a beating at the challenge.

Episode 5: Don't cry over spilt octopus
RC:
Raro
IC: Aitu
TC: Raro
Bootee: Stephannie Favor
Stephannie Favor, I had her going out in episode 1. She looked frail and not the type to make it out there. Cristina, who can forget master chef tossing away pretty boy Adam's prized octopus? And then blaming washer Jenny for not being there to support the washing of octopus. Cristina, Cristina, yer in danger. But guess not as much danger as Stephannie.

5 people down, 14 to go, 1 sole survivor to identify. Let it be Yul, for I am on the Yultide wagon. And come December, that's the season of Yultide! I am being lame, do not mind me. Anyhow, Hispanic tribe is depleted down to 2 members, the Afro tribe has 3 and the Pukaites and Rarotongans, namely Asians and Caucasians have 5 each. Both intact.

With double trouble tribal council looming ahead, are we going to see goodbye to annoyances Cao Boi and Cristina? Hey, their names even both start with a C! No wonder its double trouble tribal council...

In conclusion, yes I do miss watching Survivor on TV. Even past seasons of Survivor. I know a lot of people hated Survivor: Vanuatu and Survivor: Guatemala. Totally loved these two. Vanuatu especially, for special reasons.

Dear Nana,
Well, I can't believe its 2.5 months to 2007. When you put it that way, its kinda scary... Sheesh. I'm that much closer to being in year 3, the last and final year of the course. The term is progressing, sometimes appearing to be slowly, and other times appearing to be quickly. Yer missed and loved.

love,
Jono.

Dear Bro,
I was going over some video clips and happened on the Survivor: Vanuatu intro. This season's intro will always remind me of you, the time you went to Vanuatu. Yeah, well, good times eh bro? I dunno, sometimes it just hurts still. Was telling Reg about you today though. Love ya bro.

Love,
Kid bro.

Another birthday party

Okay, today is somewhat a cool day. Although it meant I had to skip a lecture (and law at that!), it was still okay. It was mom's birthday, so a belated happy birthday to her. Aunty Ivy and Audrey came down to celebrate and we cut the cake and she opened the presents. I was kinda happy with the outcome. Aunty Ivy had been corresponding regarding mom's present. Possible gifts included MP3s and household decor items. But then I remembered that her phone was ancient (though not as ancient as Aunty Audrey's - time to update!) and she never knew whether her messages went through or not. So, why not?

Aunty Ivy didn't exactly know what kind of phone to get, with technology being so advanced now. And Uncle Berty, well, suppose he didn't know either since the range of mobile phones these days is so wide. Thus, I was tasked with getting the phone on behalf of Uncle Berty and Aunty Ivy. Side tracking here, L, do you remember that phase that we went through by calling them Uncle Ivy and Aunty Berty? Like, wth?? Lol.

I browsed through the Nokia site, used their search function and was mesmerised by this phone. The Nokia 6131. Stunning isn't it?

Presenting to you, the sleek,
The elegant, the stunning,
Nokia 6131.

Compare this technological whiz to mom's outdated Nokia 8250. No doubt, the 8250 has served her well. But its OLD. It needed to be updated, replaced, placed in the cupboard to honour its service of 5 years without the need for servicing.

The ever reliable,
Nokia 8250.
First blue screen
phone ever!

So, as you can see, by leaps and bounds, my mom has become trendy. And just with a phone. For her birthday present. Thanks to Aunty Ivy and Uncle Berty, who paid the bills. But what would a phone be without the person actually liking it? Nothing right? But mom likes it, and she's pleased with the change you can tell. She usually finds it hard to adapt to new technology and adjust, but you should see her taking to her new phone in a flash. And she calls it just being intuitive. Wow. I'm glad she likes it. I'm glad I got a good deal within budget for it. Bliss.

Dear Nana,
Mom's birthday was fun for sure. I mean, the anticipation to see if she would like the present was thrilling. Glad she liked it, cause I spent awhile comparing, searching for prices online and then having to find a shop that sold it within the budget without a price plan and contract for two years. Its different. Yeah, people still do call. But every year, everyone looks forward to receiving your call, your card on their special day. That doesn't happen anymore. It was not about the money, it was about you remembering our birthdays. And Nan, for that, thank you.

Love,
Jono.

Dear bro,
The birthday was cool. I think you know what I mean, just us as a family celebrating it. And she liked the present, which was the best part. She was really grateful for the present. The effort for searching for something that suit her and for Aunty Ivy and Uncle Berty getting her something that looked so expensive. Yeah, well, it was fun. I still miss yer company bro.

Love,
Kid bro.

Shout Outs:
Dak: Have fun in school dude. Keep destressing, you shouldn't let it build. Yer doin good, so don't worry yerself out aight?
Fano: The game is. Awesome. And fun too. You have a really creative mind and you take your role so seriously. Haha. I know you enjoy it too. Maybe when you retire you and your husband can work on creating games or something eh? How neat!

Been busy

Okay, here's a short one to update y'all and to make known that I am not dead. Lol. No, pretty much alive although the haze is making it hard to breathe and my eyes are irritated. Life has been good, although busy with so many things. Met up with the Cafe on Friday (love ya guys), on Thursday went to deposit cash and went for a run, on Wednesday went to "buka puasa" with the class after a whole full day of school (9am to 6.45pm without breaks people!). Tuesday had spec dip and Monday was Sakae day. Mom's got loads of contracts for her business, so I'm helping out. Still have spec dip homework to get through. Should finish the EOF tutorial tonight so I can have that lesson free. Still miss Nan and Bro very much, just so both of you know. Okay, that's the whirlwind update.

I still remember you...

Today I heard this song, it touched my heart since I have not heard it in such a long time. Actually, its on a CD at home. But I've refused to touch it or listen to it cause of the memories it will bring up. Today, I heard it, there was no choice. It burned. So, I am dedicating it to the people I've lost. I Can Only Imagine, Mercy Me.

I can only imagine what it will be like
When I walk by your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When your face is before me
I can only imagine

(Chorus next)
Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus?
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine when that day comes
And I find myself standing in the Son
I can only imagine when all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

(chorus 2x)

I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you
I can only imagine

Dear Nana,
I have not forgotten you. This song today brought to me the reality of it all and I wonder what it is like where you are...

Love,
Jono

Dear Bro,
I remember you liking this song. It just went straight through my heart today. Sigh. I still cry about it at times.

Love,
Kid bro.
